No Brow

Last night, with just two hours left, I was the leading bidder on a page of comic book art drawn by Peter Bagge. When I checked this morning, I’d lost. The winner, as he is no doubt aware, is very lucky: Peter Bagge will sell pages of his art for $250.

Still, it’s cool to know that owning more pieces of original art is within my grasp. Living in Japan is no longer a requirement. I plugged the name of one of my peers into eBay. Although Marcel Dzama and I never met, we both did work (at the same time) for the same publications in Winnipeg – Diverge Magazine and The Manitoban. While I was disappointed to learn that his pictures weren’t quite in my budget, it is nice to see a former Winnipegger achieve such unequivocal success in their chosen field.

I was using the picture at the top of my post as my desktop wallpaper at work. It took me a couple of hours before I realized it might not be so...appropriate. If you look at the picture really carefully, you'll be able to figure out why.
